Gosh it is hot today with temperatures of 41 degrees Celsius at this very moment under my verandah. The time is presently 4:16pm. As I am not used to these temperatures, I decided working in my office with the air-conditioner running in the background while working on my website a better prospect than physical work.
New additions: A salad recipe has been added, plus a Hints page has been listed on the left hand index. The hints are not all new as in my earlier days as a webmaster for my site, these same hints were used but are still appropriate. More ideas will be adopted to the hints page as they come to mind.
23nd December 2005
Just a quick note to let visitors know that there is now a new gallery 3 page in the pastel section on the left hand menu. Click here to be taken directly to the new page.

Today I have put together three pages linked from "Out & About", which you will find on the menu to the left or by clinking Here.
Rather than using large photos linked by a thumbnail, smaller photos have been used to be viewed on each page. The photos are no larger than 300 pixels wide which should speed up the loading process.

With 2006 nearly upon us it has me thinking about the year that has nearly passed. As an individual it has been one of my most rewarding and successful years with growth as an artist with many friends made along the way.
Three major exhibitions (two still running) have been very time consuming with many hours spent in front of an easel. If it wasn't for the support of my husband Malcolm along with family and friends, I don't think I would have finished as many paintings that I did. I do recommend to artist that are reading this, do paint often as it helps to keep your mind and hand working together as one instead of fighting each other. In other words the creative side of you will flow so much easier which means your work will improve dramatically.
Malcolm has taken on the task of making up my frames this year while I do the mounting. This allows me to paint right up to the last minute without having to chase up a professional framer. I must say I am pretty fussy with the workmanship of my frames which soon had my husband churning out the best finished frames & mats that I have ever used. He is even getting into the decorative mat cuts. Think I will stick to painting when it comes to being creative and leave the mat cutting to him.
To all my family, friends and viewers of my website I send you my warmest wishes for a happy and joyful Christmas. I wish your year be as full as mine has been and the same for you next year. Cheers, Sue

What an interesting week it has been. Last Friday my husband Malcolm and I picked up our gorgeous six week old Coolie/Kelpie cross working sheep dog, Tess. Being only a baby she has been spoilt and allowed to visit during the day inside our home and is especially good company in my studio. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger photo of her.
Cute isn't she!!!. Now in saying this may I advise anyone contemplating chasing their loveable new pup indoors that you do it when not wearing rings on your fingers. Wednesday I did exactly the opposite. Running through a doorway heading down steps catching my wedding band on the striking plate for the door latch and actually ripping my finger open from the ring cutting seriously into my finger. Numerous stitches later along with a ring that needs repairs from being cut off my finger and frustration with the slow going for the final organising for the two up and coming exhibitions does not make for a happy artist but hey it could have been worse, but for now there will be a few visits to the hospital for dressing changes with physio to follow. On a brighter note it gives me more time to play with the internet.
Don't forget if you want an invite to either of the up and coming exhibitions (see homepage or exhibitions link on the menu to the left of this page), time is running out. Send an email to info@susanborgas.com if you would like an invitation sent to you.

Do I dare say this....my next exhibition isn't all that far away at all now with approximately three weeks to deliver paintings....... oops make that two exhibitions!!! Along with a shared exhibition with Judy Elliott in Adelaide at the Lombard Gallery there is a "Painters of the Flinders Ranges " exhibition at the Fountain Gallery in Port Augusta opening at the same time. As an artist it is a very challenging time for me to keep my work up to my standard along with the day to day grind of normal live but hey I love every minute of it.
If you would like to see some of my work from the Wilpena exhibition you can view it by clicking on Gallery 2 under the Pastel heading on the left hand menu. I hope you enjoy this sample.
31st August 2005
Less than two weeks now to deliver paintings to Wilpena Pound in readiness for the up and coming Painters of the Flinders Ranges "The Flinders Revealed IV" exhibition. Paintings still have to be photographed and mounted into their frames. Oh yeah and I have one more painting to paint that is listed in my section of the catalogue. That will be eleven paintings. While the Wilpena Woolshed exhibition is running, the Hawker Art Exhibition will also be running during some of the same period. I have five of my paintings to deliver to Hawker at the same time as the Wilpena delivery.
As an artist each painting that I have achieved over the past months has been a journey of different emotions that is often expressed in my work from turbulent clouds to a sun kissed landscape with tranquil water reflections. Many artists will understand the highs and lows of a painting that will bring a feeling of great fulfillment at the completion of a painting when that final stroke is placed in our signatures. Looking at the new paintings while typing this, I would say my cup is well and truly full.
21st August 2005
My days have been very busy as an artist along with life on the farm. The excitement is building with the up and coming Wilpena Woolshed Exhibition with the Painters of the Flinders Ranges. This will be our fourth annual exhibition.
After months of considering, my indoor studio has been moved from a small bedroom to what used to be the lounge in my home. This has given me nearly double the space along with a spare bedroom now for my visitors. It has been well worth it with numerous paintings sitting around in my studio unframed with a touch up here and there when the need may arise. It is great as I am not so concerned now that I will damage an unframed pastel because of a small amount of space to store them in the same room that I am working. It is vital to me that I don't have to rush a painting into a frame as often a correction may need to be made and makes more work if placed in a frame too soon.
Click on a thumbnail for a peek how my studio looks at this moment. The studio is a well organised mess and I love it!!!!
Also a view of my front garden from the window which lets in the morning light beautifully on a winters day though dull when this photo was taken due to cloud.
Framing has become part of the progression of my art work with my husband cutting out mat boards, glass and frames. I do the photographing and mounting into frames. At this very moment I have nine frames lying around in my kitchen waiting for the finished pastels to be placed in the frames. These paintings are for the Wilpena Woolshed Exhibition, which I will place the images on my web as soon as I am happy that each painting has its final stroke of colour.

In the evenings I am not a great fan of television so decided that I needed to revamp the look of my website. If you are familiar with this website and don't have the new banner and colours, refresh the page and all will be revealed. There is more changes yet to happen. I hope you like the new look that I feel is in more keeping to what one would expect of a landscape artist.
1st June 2005
A new month and another has hit the dust. How time does fly! It is also a reminder to me that the Wilpena Pound art exhibition that I am involved with each year is fast approaching. If anyone would like to know more about this exhibition, please don't hesitate to email me at suesart@bigpond.com if you would like more information. The exhibition date will remain on my homepage until it closes.
30th May 2005
My studies for a Commercial Art course are nearly finished. Once they are completed I should then have more time to spend playing around with my website. Originally my intentions were to create more interest than I have been with this site. Hopefully a "work in progress" will be added shortly that you will be able to follow a painting developing from beginning to end. This will be time consuming with photo preparations and commentary but should be a lot of fun.
For returning visitors, did you notice my new button to navigate to this page. I love to design things for my website and that "Sue's Musing" button is one of many new things yet to happen.
10th November 2004
Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was my new website. Some of the gremlins comes from designing on a wide screen notebook, as my poor old office PC can't handle the DreamWeaver software. I even found the Recipe Index opened up my homepage instead of the page it was supposed too. Don't think I can blame that on a widescreen. That should now be fixed.
To my subscribers, I am not going to spam you with updates as I will be constantly updating until I get the pages to look how I want them. Sue's Musings will keep you up to date, as these changes happen. Gallery 1 for oil paintings is now up and running.
7th November 2004
Well it has been a long time since I have update my website and as you can see I have well and truly gone to town with it. My three children gave me a Macromedia Dreamweaver MX educational book for my birthday, as they knew I was interested in remodeling the look of Arts & Stuff with Susan Borgas. The banner above has been made in a separate program along with my new logo at the top left hand corner. The links column at the left will repeat throughout most of this website to make it easier to browse my pages. I do hope you enjoy the new look.
